Zephyrus Premieres The Gift to Sing for A Cappella Chorus

The Charlottesville-based vocal ensemble Zephyrus commissioned The Gift to Sing, a setting of poetry by James Weldon Johnson and will premiere it on April 29, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Memorial Church in Charlottesville on their program From Darkness to Light: Music by Women Composers. Primarily focused on Renaissance Music, they also perform some contemporary repertoire. This concert features music ranging from the distant past, with music by Kassis and Hildegard to the brand new The Gift to Sing.
