Plain Song performed by Seunghye Kim at Christopher Newport University

Innovative pianist Seunghye Kim performs a concert of music inspired by poetry, such as Shatin’s Plain Song, for amplified piano and electronics fashioned from recordings of 4 poems of Charles Wright read by the composer. The program also includes Forgetting Pieces by Brian Simalchik, Maxwell Tfirn’s Boltzmann’s Destroyer, To Unformed by Kyong Mee Choi and Nostalgic Visions by Elaine Lillios. The voices of poets are included in both Shatin’s and Simalchik’s pieces, while all of the pieces are deeply connected to poetry.
