Immigrant, with Music by Judith Shatin at the Martha Graham Dance Company

Noted choreogrpaher Virginie Mécène, a Martha Graham dancer who now runs Martha Graham 2, reimagined Martha Graham’s lost piece Immigrant. The original version used music by Arthur Honegger. For hers, Virginie chose music from my Adveture on Mt. Hehuan, for solo bass drum and interactive electronics. The music for the dance was drawn from the recording of the premiere, with star percussionist I-Jen Fang, and Shatin on electronics.
