04/07/2025 @ 6:00 pm
Presentation on Shatin’s music for the Juilliard Composition Seminar, focusing on a mix of acoustic, electroacoustic and digital approaches. As a Juilliard graduate (MM., 1974), Shatin’s approach to acoustic music bore the fruits of studies with Hal Overton, Otto Luenning and Milton Babbitt. Her love of collaboration with choreographers grew from her collaboration with Diane Hulbert, with wonderful support from Dean Martha Hill. Other high points include her course in acoustics with noted acoustician Chris Jaffe, as well as classes with Vincent Persichetti and David Diamond. Multiiple life-long friendships ensued with performers including violist Rosemary Glyde and pianist Gayle Martin.
