Violist Katie Hedrick performs Penelope’s Song

Katie Hendrick performs Penelope”s Song  in the original version for viola and electronics fashioned from recordings of Charlottesville-based weaver Jan Russell working on her wooden looms.  Penelope’s Song, in the original scoring for amplified viola and electronics, was premiered by Laura Wilcox at the Musica Viva Festival in Portugal in 2003, with the US premiere by Rosanna Weinberger. Since then, I have made additional versions for amplified flute, clarinet, soprano sax, violin, and cello. There are recordings of the versions for amplified flute (Lindsey Goodman), clarinet (Andrea Cheeseman), soprano sax (Susan Fancher) and violin (Hasse Borup).
