World Premiere of Floes

Floes, in this version for music and video, is the second collaboration between artist SoHyun Bae and composer Judtih Shatin, this time also in collaboraton with choreographer Virginie Mécène, formerly a principal dancer with the Martha Graham Company and currently director of Graham 2. The piece evolved collaboratively, with each sharing work in progress with the others and responding to theirs. The music and video also combine with Mécène’s choreography. Named  for the large ice sheets that  form on the surface of bodies of water, the sonic and visual elements  embody formation, breaking and melting.
